FARGO (KFGO) —Charges have been filed against a Fargo man accused of chasing a vehicle driven by a high-schooler before crashing into it.
A Fargo Police report says officers responded to a crash just after 5:30 p.m. Thursday in south Fargo. One of the drivers, a teen, told police he and a friend had been at their high school for a practice. While leaving, the teen said an SUV left the parking lot and started following both vehicles. The teen said they started speeding up, believing the SUV was following them. The SUV matched the teen’s speed, estimated to be 50 mph. When the teen slowed for a stop sign, they reported the SUV rear-ended them. They told officers they feared for their life.
When officers spoke to the driver of the SUV, they noticed the strong smell of alcohol, and found two unopened bottles underneath the driver’s seat. A passenger told officers she and the driver had parked at the school to talk, as their son had recently died.
Police arrested Robert Sayers, 36, for DUI and reckless endangerment. His vehicle was impounded.
