FARGO (KFGO-KVRR) – A Fargo concert promoter that suddenly announced its closure on Thursday was the recipient of a $4.4 million federal grant during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Jade Presents closed after more than three decades in business. The closure led to the cancellation of several events and left venues, artists and customers wondering how the closure will affect them.
In 2021, Jade received a grant of $4,415,777 from the U.S. Small Business Administration as part of the Shuttered Venue Operators Grant, which handed out more than $14 billion to recipients in entertainment.
The program was created to help live venues, museums and theaters that were forced to close due to the pandemic.
The Small Business Administration has been conducting audits of grantees, and in some cases demanding repayment of the grant money. Jade Presents and the Small Business Administration have been contacted for details regarding the status of the grant, but have not responded.
