September is Alopecia Awareness Month, so I recently spent some time with Marie and Tangy at M.J. Capelli’s Maxx location to learn more about hair loss and their Alternative Hair services.

If Alternative Hair Is the Right Option
If alternative hair is the best choice, the process is completely customized.
They measure your head, find the right color and help you choose between human and synthetic hair. The piece is then ordered specifically for you.
When it arrives, you come back for a fitting. They fit it to your head and show you how to wear it, take it off and care for it.
They also follow up with you afterward to see how you’re doing and how you feel in your new hair.
The goal is to make sure you feel comfortable with it, not just when you leave the salon, but as you start wearing it in your everyday life.
There Are Options
One of the biggest things I took away from my visit is that alternative hair isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution.
Depending on what you’re experiencing, your solution might be a product, extensions, a topper or alternative hair.
And if alternative hair is the right fit, it’s customized specifically for you.
Alternative hair pieces range from approximately $630 to $2,000+, depending on the type of hair and length. The consultation is $60, and that fee goes toward the purchase of a hair piece if you choose that route.
