BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – North Dakota Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak and U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon visited two North Dakota schools today.
McMahon and Fedorchak visit Bismarck State College and Sweet Briar School, a rural school near Mandan for kids in kindergarten to eight grade. They discussed efforts give states more power over public education, and reduce federal restrictions that tie up funding.
At Bismarck State College, they looked at the schools hands-on approach to learning, and how students leave BSC prepared for high-demand careers.
At Sweet Briar School, rural challenges for education was discussed, McMahon and Fedorchak stressed the importance of teachers being given flexibility to meet the needs of their students.
The visit was part of McMahon’s 50 state tour, she says she’s haring concerns from teachers, parents, students and community leaders to improve local education across the United States.
