WASHINGTON – The Senate Agriculture Committee is working on marking up the farm bill.
On “News and Views” North Dakota Senator John Hoeven talked about concerns about high fertilizer prices. That’s in part because of the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz.
Hoeven says a fertilizer price reporting provision is in the legislation.
“There’s a lot of concentration in that industry. Same thing with the livestock and slaughter industry. We need more transparency and we need better pricing,” Hoeven said.
Hoeven wants mandatory country of origin labeling for meat in the farm bill, but he doesn’t believe there are enough votes to make it happen.
