(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks faced off against the Chicago Dogs for the final time this season at Newman Outdoor Field. The RedHawks won games one and two of the series but would lose the final contest 9-6. Right-hander Kyle Crigger would get the start for the RedHawks and the Chicago Dogs would start right-hander Kelvan Pilot.
Chicago would get on the board first in the top of the third with an RBI double from Ethan Wilder making it 1-0.
The RedHawks would come back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the fourth. Jesus Lujano would start the fourth off with a single into left field. Later in the inning, Jose Sermo would extend his American Association home run lead with a two-run home run making it 2-1.
Brian Fuentes would lead off the bottom of the fifth with a double. He would advance to third on a ground out and would score on a wild pitch. Andy Nelson would score later in the fifth after going from first to home on a throwing error making it 4-1 after five innings.
Jose Sermo would do it again in the bottom of the sixth, hitting another 2 RBI home run making it a 6-1 game.
The Chicago Dogs would then take charge in the seventh inning. Giovanni DiGiacomo would bat in a run on a fielders choice, followed by Ethan Wilder doing the same. Jaxx Groshans would get an RBI single this inning and Jacob Maiben would walk in a run. Zack Stokes would then reclaim the lead for the Dogs with a two RBI double. The final run of the inning would come in on a passed ball making the score 8-6.
The final run would come in the top of the ninth when Chance Sisco hit a leadoff home run to create the final score of 9-6.
RedHawks starter Kyle Crigger went 6.1 innings and gave up 3 earned runs. Relief pitcher Mason Pelio would be credited with the loss.
The Chicago Dogs starter Kelvan Pilot went 5.0 innings giving up 5 earned runs. Relief pitcher Donald Tober would get the win and Austin Eaton would get the save.
The RedHawks return to Newman Outdoor Field on Monday to face off against the Gary SouthShore RailCats. Pregame starts at 6:40PM on 740AM The FAN/ 107.3FM, 740thefan.com, and The FAN Mobile App.
