OTTAWA, June 15 (Reuters) – Canada’s Ambassador to the United States, Mark D. Wiseman, said on Monday that discussions with Washington on reviewing the US-Mexico-Canada free trade pact and tariffs were productive and respectful.
“Those discussions are productive, serious, informed and respectful,” Wiseman said during a fireside chat in Toronto.
Wiseman said behind the scenes conversations are rational, collaborative and businesslike.
On Wednesday U.S. President Donald Trump said the U.S. might not renew the free trade deal, claiming the country did not need anything from its North American counterparts.
