BARNES COUNTY, N. Dak. (NewsDakota KFGO) – An investigation into the theft of property stolen inside two electrical substations is underway in Barnes County.
Sheriff Randy McClaflin says on May 4th and May 14th, deputies responded to the 2300 block of 108th Avenue near Rogers, ND, and the 12100 block of 35th Street SE near Valley City. In both cases, someone forced their way into the substations by damaging the outside fencing, then removing ground cable.
The ground cable is smaller in diameter, and the thieves cut the cable in varying lengths and removed them.
The thefts occurred inside substations owned by power companies. Sheriff McClaflin says the acts were dangerous and could have resulted in death.
