INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. – Inver Grove Heights is the latest Minnesota city to pass a moratorium on data centers.
The city council has voted to delay any data center projects for a year. The moratorium includes a pending data center near the South St. Paul border. Opponents have raised questions about water use, electricity demand, roads, and environmental effects.
Residents of Hermantown in northeastern Minnesota are suing to stop a Google data center.
