FARGO (KFGO) – The Rape and Abuse Crisis Center has a new name.
The organization that has served the Fargo-Moorhead area by providing confidential advocacy and support to survivors of sexual violence and abuse is now called Sollera. Leaders say the new name reflects years of listening to victim survivors and a growing understanding of how people experience and seek support.
One concern among victim survivors was concern over whether they qualified for the services based on what they experienced and when.
“No one should have to find the ‘right’ words for what they’ve been through in order to receive support,” said CEO Dr. Christopher Johnson. “As we’ve listened and evolved, we recognized the need for a name that better reflects the full scope of our work and the experiences of those we serve.”
Sollera will continue to provide services 24 hours a day. Next month, Sollera will move to a new facility at 415 4th Street N. in Fargo.
