BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) — Rep. Liz Conmy will remain on the primary ballot in June and the District 11 Dem-NPL cannot place a new candidate on the ballot.
North Dakota Secretary of State Michael Howe says the removal of a candidate’s name after the withdrawal period passes is not allowable under statute. The deadline was April 8.
A candidate could submit paperwork to file as a write-in candidate to the Secretary of State’s office by May 19.
Cass County has already mailed military and overseas ballots. Absentee ballots will be printed and mailed this week.
Conmy was killed in a small plane crash in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota Sunday.
The Fargo Democrat was first elected to the House in 2022 and was running for re-election.
