Brewhalla Convention Center site/City of Fargo)
FARGO (KFGO) – The Fargo Convention Center Committee has made its recommendations on where the center should go.
The two top choices, based on a point system, were Brewhalla, and the Civic Center location downtown. Third was the Scheel’s Arena site followed by Fargodome. Brewhalla scored 85.11 of 100 points, the Civic Center was second with 79.83 points. Scheel’s came in third with 75.83 points and Fargodome 62.11.
The recommendations will be considered by the City Commission on Monday.
In 2024, voters approved an increase in the lodging tax to pay for construction of the convention center. Once collection of the tax begins, the tax will go from 3% to 6%. The higher tax will be in place for 25 years.
The estimated cost of construction is more than $40 million.
