Kentucky Bank ATM Dispenses Fake $100 Bills Used for Movies, Shocking Customers
In Providence, Kentucky, over a dozen people withdrew money from an Independence Bank ATM, only to have it be fake $100 bills. The counterfeit money was marked ‘for motion picture purposes’ and ‘in props we trust.’ One of the victims, Tiffany Vaugh, withdrew $400 only to discover the bills were fake when she tried to use them.
Independence Bank released a statement saying they are working with their ATM vendor to ensure this doesn’t happen again and have already started contacting the 14 affected customers to correct the situation.
How movie prop money ended up in a real ATM is still a mystery, and authorities are investigating.
