Failed Train Hijacking in Salt Lake City Ends in Arrest
Today, we have a story out of Salt Lake City involving a botched train hijacking attempt. A 26-year-old man, Isaiah Spendlove, learned a tough lesson when he tried to hijack a TRAX train on Saturday. According to Utah Transit Authority police, Spendlove began pounding on the door of the driver’s cabin, shouting at the engineer in an attempt to force the train to go back to a stop he had missed.
The train engineer, with the help of another passenger, managed to restrain Spendlove until the authorities arrived. Upon their arrival, police used a “taco” wrap device to secure Spendlove for transport.
Spendlove was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, facing charges that include felony assault with intent to hijack a vehicle. It’s a clear case of “play stupid games, win stupid prizes.”
