WASHINGTON – Legislation to rename the South St. Paul Post Office in honor of fallen Police Officer Leo Pavlak is headed to the U-S Senate.
The House approved the bill sponsored by Congresswoman Angie Craig last week.
Craig told members, “In 1933 only four months on the force, Officer Pavlak was shot and killed by the notorious Barker-Karpis gang while assisting in a payroll delivery. To this day he is the only South St. Paul officer to have been killed in the line of duty.” Officer Pavlak’s son, two grandsons, and two great-grandsons followed in his footsteps and became law enforcement officers.
Craig says this bill honors not only Officer Leo Pavlak’s service and dedication, but that of his entire family.
