GRAND FORKS, N.D. (UND Athletics)– Following the first conference win of the season, the University of North Dakota football program hits the road for another league showdown against No. 17/20 Missouri State on Saturday from Robert W. Plaster Stadium in Springfield.
Tune into AM 790 FM 104.7 | 94.1 the Home of Economy Radio Network with Jack Michaels, Tom Dosch and Paul Ralston.
This will be the fourth all-time meeting between North Dakota and Missouri State, with UND holding a 2-1 advantage in the series. All three previous meetings came in the non-conference variety, with the first matchup happening in 2014. The Bears thwarted the UND offense to pick up a 38-0 win in Springfield before the Fighting Hawks returned the favor on Sept. 9, 2017 with a 34-0 victory in Grand Forks.
A cancelation in the regular season pushed the third all-time meeting to the opening round of the 2021 FCS playoffs, where UND scored on its first four possessions, returned a blocked punt for a touchdown and had an interception return for a score in a 44-10 victory from the Alerus Center in April.
After a few weeks of offensive struggles, the offense awoke in a 34-10 win over Western Illinois last weekend in Grand Forks. The Fighting Hawks exploded for over 600 yards of offense and held the Leathernecks to under 100 total yards in the second half to cruise to victory.
It was a different 1-2 punch in the backfield for the Hawks in the win last Saturday, with Otis Weah returning to power a 125-yard, 18-carry and one touchdown performance while true freshman Gaven Ziebarth burst onto the scene with 15 rushes for 110 yards in his debut
