HORACE, N.D. (KVRR) – Two automated license plate readers and a surveillance camera owned by Flock have been deactivated and removed from the city of Horace.
Cass County Sheriff Jesse Jahner says all three devices were remotely disabled by Flock shortly after the Horace City Council voted 3-1 to take them down.
The devices were removed by Flock on Tuesday, according to Jahner.
Councilmember Chad Chalmers led the effort to remove the cameras over privacy concerns.
Councilmember Ross Renner, a former Fargo deputy police chief, voted against the motion.
Flock cameras are being removed in a growing number of cities across the nation. Opponents are concerned about surveillance and privacy issues.
