(KNFL/KFGO) – The RedHawks would send Kolby Kiser to the mound Tuesday night to face the Sioux Falls Canaries starter Nicholai Arbach.
The RedHawks would strike first with back to back RBI singles by Jesus Lujano and Eric Filia to make it 2-0.
In the Top of the 3rd Bryce Brassfield would take over for Kolby Kiser who was being used as an opener tonight. The Canaries would get three hits off Brassfield and take a 3-2 lead as well. Mike Hart would hit a fielder’s choice RBI and Michael Curialle would follow with a two run homerun.
In the bottom of the 3rd inning, the RedHawks would take advantage of the wind blowing out to right field when Brian Fuentes hit a two-run homerun to give the RedHawks a 4-3 lead. The RedHawks would add an insurance run in the bottom of the 4th when Tripp Clark hit a RBI double that scored Jesus Lujano to make it 5-3.
In the top of the 5th inning things fell apart for RedHawks pitcher Bryce Brassfield. Canaries’ Mike Hart would hit a RBI single and Michael Curialle would follow with a RBI double. Both Anthony Hall and Trevor Archenbach would hit into RBI fielder’s choice before the inning ended as the canaries took a 7-5 lead.
Bryce Brassfield would be replaced by Jon Beymer in the 6th inning. Brassfield pitched 3 innings of relief, giving up 7 earned runs with 4 strikeouts.
The Canaries would add an additional run in the 6th when the scored on a Jon Beymer wild pitch to make it 8-5 Sioux Falls.
The score remained 8-5 until the bottom of the 8th when the RedHawks loaded the bases. Eric Filia hit a deep fly that was caught at the wall for a RBI. Tripp Clark followed with another sacrifice fly and the RedHawks were within one run, 8-7 after the 8th.
In the top of the 9th inning, Mike Hart leadoff with a solo homerun to make it 9-7 Canaries. Trevor Archenbach would hit a RBI single then on a routine play, RedHawks 2nd baseman Brian Fuentes would commit a throwing error which allowed two more runners to score. Josh Rehwaldt would add a RBI double and it was 13-7 Canaries.
In the bottom of the 9th, the RedHawks loaded the bases with no outs. Aidan Byrne would hir a fielder’s choice RBI to make it 13-8. Jesus Lujano would walk to reload the bases with Eric Felia coming to the plate. Felia would hit a 1-0 pitch over the outfield wall for a grand slam to put the RedHawks within one run 13-12.
The Canaries would bring in Will Levine to get the last two outs of the 9th inning, Levine would strike out Tripp Clark and Jose Sermo to end the RedHawks comeback attempt and win 13-12.
