ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (KFGO) – A Manitoba man was arrested in Alexandria Saturday after leading law enforcement on a search through North Dakota and Minnesota.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says they were alerted by Canadian law enforcement of a Manitoba man that reportedly abducted another man in Winnipeg and had crossed the U.S.-Canada border into North Dakota.
Law enforcement used information from license plate readers, cameras, and cellphone information to locate the suspect vehicle in Alexandria, Minnesota.
The victim broke free from the man and ran into a nearby store where he was later located safe. The suspect was arrested by Alexandria Police and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the incident is still under investigation.
