PIERRE, S.D. (KFGO) – South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says six men were arrested during the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally on charges of attempted sex crimes with minors.
The Attorney General’s Office says the arrests were the result of an undercover operation conducted by the South Dakota Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The task force says during the operation, agents and detectives posed online as children or traffickers offering children for prostitution. Law enforcement posted ads and profiles on multiple internet sites trying to communicate with offenders.
Six men were arrested, five from South Dakota and one man from South Carolina. Two men could also face deportation or federal immigration related charges on top of state charges for sex crimes.
All six men are being prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office and Pennington County State’s Attorney’s Office.
