Nick Reiner made his first court appearance Wednesday on murder charges for allegedly stabbing his parents, filmmaker Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner, but his arraignment was delayed until January 7. The 32-year-old, wearing a jail suicide prevention smock and shackled behind glass, only said “Yes, your honor” when agreeing to the postponement. Defense attorney Alan Jackson called it “too early” for a plea. Nick Reiner faces two first-degree murder counts with special circumstances that could result in the death penalty. His siblings, Romy, 28, and Jake, 34, released a statement saying “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day.” They asked for privacy and said their parents “weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.” (Story URL)
