A Brisbane CityGlider bus driver rescued a koala from busy traffic on Wiles Street at Camp Hill, bringing the animal aboard to await wildlife experts. The driver spotted the marsupial darting through traffic and attempting to climb a metal light pole on the median. Fearing the koala would fall, the driver covered its head with a jacket and carried it onto the bus. Koala Rescue Brisbane South shared video and photos of the koala, named Peri by rescuers, gripping a pole inside the vehicle. “We don’t recommend handling koalas unless you’re trained. They have incredibly dangerous claws, can bite — and gripping them around their ribs can cause serious damage,” the rescue organization posted. Wildlife experts transported Peri to an RSPCA hospital where he received medical clearance before being relocated to Seven Hills Bushland Reserve and released back into the wild. (Story URL)
