AMC is creating a television series based on the 1991 film Point Break that starred Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves, Lori Petty and Gary Busey. The original movie followed rookie FBI agent Johnny Utah infiltrating the Ex-Presidents, a bank-robbing surf gang led by Swayze’s character Bodhi. Set 35 years after the film’s events, the new series centers on a dangerous heist crew connected to the Ex-Presidents gang. David Kalstein, who previously worked on Amazon’s spy-thriller series Butterfly, will write and executive produce. AMC recently found success adapting other 1990s material with Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, which returns for a third season next year. (Story URL)
