MOORHEAD, Minn. (KFGO) – Republican candidate for Minnesota House District 4A Andrew Rockhold wants to eliminate state property taxes.
The district covers all of Moorhead south of 15th Ave. N.
“Afternoons Live” Guest Host, Dem-NPL State Senator Jamie Selzler of Fargo, asked the car dealership owner how he would replace an estimated $14 million in state funding if that happens.
“That’s when it gets good. That’s when you can start hacking the government down,” Rockhold explained.
“Sure, but as you go into this, shouldn’t you have a stronger idea of what to cut rather than we’re going to start cutting? Shouldn’t you know now what you want to cut?” Selzler asked.
“Yeah, but I’ve got three jobs. I’ve got six kids. I don’t have a lot of time to sit on my phone and ‘What are we funding over here that’s worthless?’ I know there’s plenty there,” Rockhold said.
Rockhold believes funding could be replaced in part by a one-time sales tax on home purchases.
Selzler asked Rockhold about his pro-life beliefs. He asked if a 13-year-old girl should be able to get an abortion if she were raped by her uncle.
“Nope. I think his n*** should get cut off. I mean, when is murder of a child ever… The fact that we’re even talking about this is almost disgusting,” Rockhold said. “There needs to be far tougher crimes for people that do that. There needs to be far better options for those children who are raped who have a child for them to be able to give up that child, but still give that child a life.”
Rockhold’s opponent is psychiatric nurse practitioner, DFLer Erika Yoney.
