BISMARCK, N.D. (KFGO) – North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley says it will take six months for his office to create regulations on the state’s restrictions on natural kratom sales to those under age 21.
Governor Kelly Armstrong signed the bill the Legislature passed during the special session into law earlier this month.
It enforces strict testing, labeling, and licensing for retailers and bans synthetic kratom.
“One legislator from the floor said he didn’t like this because the Attorney General was going to drag his feet. He didn’t know me very well. I’m not going to drag my feet about it. We take the law and the law is the law and we’re going to follow it,” Wrigley said. “It remains to be seen whether anybody in the kratom industry can produce a product that can comply with those regulations.”
All kratom sales are banned until new state regulations are implemented.
