CLALLAM BAY – A Barnesville native is being credited with saving an injured man from a burning dump truck in the state of Washington.
The Washington state Department of Fish and Wildlife says Alex Peppel, who now works as an officer for the department, found the truck overturned on the road with a burning axle. A man inside was injured and could not climb out because of injuries suffered in the crash.
Peppel broke a door of the truck open with a sledgehammer and pulled the man out. He then assisted with first aid while they waited for first responders to arrive.
