FARGO, N.D. (KFGO) – On “News and Views”, Addiction Medicine Specialist Dr. Ezioma Gbujie suggested the North Dakota Legislature should ban kratom during a special session next month saying there are no medical benefits to the plant.
Gbujie said in low doses it’s a stimulant, but in higher doses it’s a partial opiate and can cause people to overdose.
“I’m very afraid that many people did not even know what this is. You just hear it boosts energy, kills pain,” Gbujiesaid.
Gbujie is also concerned with people buying kratom online saying 25 percent of sales nationwide are done there.
