BISMARCK, N.D. – On “News and Views”, North Dakota Attorney General Drew Wrigley shared his message ahead of next month’s special session on kratom.
“I implore the legislature to not do what too many are already doing: start to make judgements based on something they heard anecdotally or an article they read. Wait until you have the opportunity to hear from medical experts, hear from people at the North Dakota Crime Lab, addiction folks,” Wrigley said.
State officials say 23 deaths in North Dakota since 2019 have been attributed to kratom.
The state crime lab tested kratom Wrigley bought in Bismarck and the drug’s packaging was mislabeled.
Wrigley says the clerk he bought kratom from told him to not take it since it’s highly addictive.
