(KNFL/KFGO) – Joey Cullen, the youngest of three sons of former NHL player, Matt Cullen, has committed to play hockey at the University of Minnesota. Joey’s brothers’ Brooks, and Wyatt also committed to the Gophers. Wyatt and Brooks are set to be rostered on the 2026-27 team. Brooks, the oldest, recently played his first full season with the Fargo Force of the USHL(United States Hockey League), while Wyatt got drafted 10th overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2026 NHL Draft.
Joey Cullen, who is in the mix to potentially go first overall in the 2028 NHL draft, had a shortened sophomore season with the Moorhead Spuds due to injury. However, he still put up 19 goals, and 21 assists. Moorhead would end up winning back-to-back Class AA titles this year.
The Cullen brothers will also be joining their father at the University of Minnesota, as Matt Cullen is now the Director of Player Development for the Gophers hockey team.
