(KNFL/KFGO) – The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks had a chance to win the series against the Winnipeg Goldeyes at Blue Cross Park. However they would fall to the Goldeyes 4-3 in this one. The RedHawks would start left-hander Patrick Wicklander and the Goldeyes would start left-hander Mitch Lambson.
Winnipeg got the scoring started in the bottom of the first when Roby Enríquez hit a sacrifice fly that would bring Keshawn Lynch home.
Fargo-Moorhead would take the lead back in the top of the fourth thanks to a two run home run from the catcher Tripp Clark that would make the score 2-1.
In the top of the sixth, the RedHawks would add another run after Dillon Thomas hit a solo home run to make the score 3-1.
The lead didn’t last long though, as the Goldeyes would come up in the bottom of the sixth. Ramon Bramasco began the innings scoring with a single that brought home Noah Marcelo. A sacrifice bunt and a fielders choice would bring Bramasco to third, where Kevin García hit a single to bring in the tying run.
In the bottom of the eighth the Goldeyes got going with a leadoff single from Roby Enríquez. A sacrifice bunt would move Enríquez over to second. Then with two outs in the inning, Max Murphy hit a ball that would deflect off of the RedHawks pitcher Mason Pelio and head towards short. Shortstop Aidan Byrne would slip while charging on the ball and that would allow Winnipeg to score making it 4-3.
The RedHawks wouldn’t go down easy in the top of the ninth. Tripp Clark would lead off the inning with a single. Brian Fuentes then moved him over to second with a sacrifice bunt. Jairus Richards followed that up with a one out single that moved Clark to third. Andy Nelson would try to bring in the tying run on a safety squeeze, however Tripp Clark would be thrown out trying to score. A groundout from Aidan Byrne would eventually end the game.
Redhawks relief pitcher Mason Pelio would be credited for the loss in this game. Goldeyes reliver Willian Suarez was credited with the win and their closer Eli Saul got the save.
