During a recent interview, the New York Knicks captain said he learned about the reported invitation at the same time as everyone else and confirmed that he did not attend the ceremony.
The rumor claimed that the Knicks’ starting five had been invited to the July 3 celebration. Brunson said he could not confirm whether an invitation ever existed, leaving the original claim unresolved. Teammate Josh Hart had previously dismissed the story as fake news in a social media response.
Brunson also spoke positively about Swift attending Game 4 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden. She watched the Knicks overcome a 29-point deficit against the San Antonio Spurs in one of the team’s most memorable victories of the season.
The basketball star said celebrity guests are welcome as long as they support the team. Although Brunson did not attend Swift and Kelce’s wedding, he described her presence during the Knicks’ championship run as a cool moment for the team and New York fans.
