ROTHSAY, Minn. (KFGO-KBRF) – A man is in custody for assaulting two passengers on a Jefferson Bus Lines bus near Rothsay Monday evening.
The Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to a reported assault on a bus on I-94 near mile marker 34 at around 5:37 p.m. Monday. Upon arrival, deputies located two passengers who had sustained head and facial injuries after being assaulted with a key.
Deputies say the suspect, later identified as 69-year-old Russell Anderson, had left the bus before deputies arrived and was seen walking east on I-94. With assistance from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, Anderson was located near the scene and was detained without incident. He was transported to the Wilkin County Jail and is charged with two counts of 3rd degree assault.
The incident remains under investigation.
