BISMARCK (KFGO) – Governor Kelly Armstrong is declaring a statewide disaster for severe storms in early June causing around 4.6 million dollars in damage across North Dakota
The declaration covers the storms that took place from June 7-9 impacting Burke, Bottineau, Divide, McLean, Mercer and Mountrail counties.
The storms included multiple confirmed tornadoes, straight line winds approaching 100 miles per hour and 3 inches of hail.
The Department of Emergency Services are working closely with local officials to assess the total amount of damage that can help determine if the storm impacts can meet a presidential declaration, unlocking public assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
