Ashley Stevens (Becker County Jail)
PONSFORD, Minn (KBRF/KFGO) – A Ponsford Minnesota woman is facing multiple charges for grabbing the steering wheel of a moving vehicle, crashing into the ditch, and assaulting police.
Becker County prosecutors say Ashley Stevens, 37, and her boyfriend were in an argument while he was driving on a county highway when she grabbed the wheel and turned it towards the ditch. Officers say the vehicle crashed into a group of trees 75 yards away from the road. Stevens’ boyfriend told officers that she was intoxicated when they crashed.
A White Earth Police Officer found Stevens walking away from the crash. Stevens told the officer she was trying to get away without the cops noticing. She refused a breathalyzer and was taken into custody.
Court documents say when taken into custody, Stevens assaulted officers and banged her head on a squad car.
She is being charged with felony domestic assault, 2nd degree DWI, and multiple counts of assaulting a peace officer.
