The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks built an early lead and held off a late-inning rally by the Winnipeg Goldeyes to secure a 4-3 victory at home.
Fargo-Moorhead ignited their offense in the bottom of the second inning, stringing together hits from Jairus Richards and Brian Fuentes before a Juan Fernandez sacrifice fly and a Tripp Clark single drove in two runs. In the third, Dillon Thomas cushioned the lead with a solo home run off Winnipeg starter Ryo Kohigashi. Thomas had a stellar day at the plate, finished 2-for-3 with a home run and a triple.
Winnipeg cracked the scoreboard in the fourth inning when Max Murphy drove in Noah Marcelo. Fargo-Moorhead answered back in the bottom of the seventh, capitalizing on two walks and an error to make it 4-1.
The Goldeyes refused to go quietly, mounting late pressure against the RedHawks bullpen. Keshawn Lynch delivered an RBI single in the eighth, and Raphael Pelletier drove home another run in the ninth. However, Fargo-Moorhead closer Tyler Jeans struck out three batters in the final frame to slam the door and lock down his fourth save of the season.
RedHawks starter Patrick Wicklander earned the win, striking out six and allowing just one run over six sharp innings. Kohigashi took the loss for Winnipeg, giving up three runs over six innings of work.
