(KNFL/KFGO) – After a 16-4 win in the 1st game of the series, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks were looking for the series win against the Kansas City Monarchs. The game would be delayed due to a storm cell passing through the area. But there would be baseball played.
Kansas City would strike first in the top of the 1st, as Saul Garza would deliver on an RBI double to make it 1-0 Monarchs. But, a 2-run double by Dillon Thomas, followed by a 2-run single by Jairus Richards in the bottom of the 1st, gave Fargo-Moorhead a 4-1 lead.
The Monarchs would get sacrifice flies from Josh Bissonette, and Nick Martini in the top of the 2nd to pull within 1 at 4-3. Kansas City would tie it at 4 in the top of the 3rd on a solo home run by Austin Callahan.
Fargo-Moorhead would plate 5 runs in the bottom of the 3rd, thanks to a 2-run triple by Jesus Lujano, RBI singles by Dillon Thomas and Jose Sermo, and then an RBI double by Tripp Clark to make it 9-4 RedHawks.
Saul Garza would drive in a run on an RBI triple in the top of the 4th to make it a 9-5 game. But Fargo-Moorhead would have control for the rest of the game.
In the top of the 6th, Aiden Byrne would drive in a run on a fielder’s choice, and Jose Sermo would draw a bases-loaded walk. That would bring the score to 11-5. Finally, in the bottom of the 7th, Jairus Richards would crush a solo home run to right field to tally the final run in a 12-5 win for Fargo-Moorhead, as well as a series victory.
The RedHawks had 16 total hits in the win. In the series, they have 28 combined runs, and 35 combined hits.
