ORR, Minn. (KFGO/Learfield) – A no-fly restriction is now in place over the property of Daniel Pettit, 48, the man accused of shooting at a firefighting plane near Orr in northeast Minnesota. The DNR says the restriction is meant to protect fire crews in the area.
Pettit is charged with multiple felonies after investigators say a plane was hit by a bullet while responding to a wildfire earlier this month. The aircraft was damaged but safely landed in hibbing. The pilot was not injured.

Pettit told investigators he was crow hunting and did not mean to hit the plane.
