On Monday (December 22), Gracie Abrams, The National’s Aaron Dessner, and Bon Iver mastermind Justin Vernon released their emotionally charged collaborative song, “Sold Out,” to support Everytown, an organization dedicated to ending gun violence. Created last year in response to a school shooting, the track highlights the ongoing fear and frustration surrounding gun violence in the wake of recent tragic mass shootings at Brown University and Australia’s Bondi Beach. “We made this song last year in the wake of a school shooting. We were reminded of it this week as our hearts were broken yet again,” the three musicians wrote in a joint statement. “It’s a sad one to share during the holidays, but the world is hurting and we shouldn’t look away. Sending so much love to you all.” The track, which was engineered, mixed, and mastered by Bella Blasko, is available on Bandcamp for $5. (Billboard)
