A man arrested while wearing a Chuck E. Cheese costume has earned “Florida Man of the Year” recognition according to The Miami New Times. Jermel Jones, 41, was detained July 23rd in Tallahassee over alleged credit card fraud while working as the restaurant mascot. Bodycam footage captured Officer Jarrett Cruz telling the costumed suspect, “Chuck E., come with me, Chuck E.” Police struggled to handcuff Jones near arcade games as children and parents watched. “Chuck E., stop resisting,” Cruz said during the arrest. One child asked, “What are you doing?” while a parent questioned whether Mickey Mouse would face similar treatment. Officers escorted Jones outside in full costume before removing the mouse head, gloves, and oversized shoes. Jones denied wrongdoing regarding the stolen credit card allegations. (Story URL)
