Amazon has greenlit a new Stargate television series with Martin Gero (Blindspot, Quantum Leap) as writer, executive producer, and showrunner. The project will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios and stream on Prime Video. Gero previously worked on the original franchise, stating “Twenty years ago, my first real job in television was as a Story Editor on Stargate: Atlantis” and “I spent five years at the franchise working across all three series, Stargate taught me everything about making television — it’s written into my DNA.” The original 1994 film starred James Spader and Kurt Russell, spawning multiple TV series including the ten-season hit Stargate SG-1.
