Aaron Thompson, a 31-year-old violinist, faces felony criminal mischief charges after destroying approximately 80 pumpkins valued at $472.14 outside a Tampa Bay area Target store. Security footage captured Thompson at 1:15 AM on October 21st “picking pumpkins out of the boxes located in front of the store and smashing them on the ground,” according to police reports. When arrested days later and shown the surveillance video, Thompson admitted his guilt, stating “That’s me.” Thompson told officers he destroyed the pumpkins because “someone was messing with him on Facebook and it made him mad.” Police noted Thompson was “unapologetic about his actions and after smashing the pumpkins he left the scene to go to sleep.” Thompson remains jailed on $5,000 bond and has previous convictions including burglary, battery, and trespass.
