When a Canadian couple’s wedding rings accidentally ended up in the trash, the husband was determined to recover them, even if it meant digging through a landfill. After dropping popcorn in their garden, Jeannine Van Ysseldyk’s rings slipped off and got thrown out with the compost. The next day, her husband Steve decided to try his luck at the dump, despite his wife’s skepticism. To Steve’s surprise, the landfill staff agreed to let him search the facility. Using an excavator, they even helped him locate the rings, which he recognized among the discarded items. This allowed him to find both rings before his wife could arrive with a metal detector. The couple’s 26-year marriage persevered through this messy, yet ultimately successful, recovery effort. (Newser)
