HEADS-UP: If you’re constantly powering through lunch thinking you’re crushing it… you’re actually crushing your productivity. Experts say skipping breaks does more harm than good — and it’s burning you out faster than your phone battery at 3%.
Try this simple mental health hack:
Set an actual alarm on your phone for your lunch break. Like, literally. Give yourself permission to step away — even if it’s just 20 minutes.
A new study out of Australia found 80% of people admit they sometimes skip lunch. Most of them also say it messes with their mental health. And no, it’s not just a U.S. problem — it’s a global grind.
Why does it matter? A workplace psychology expert says we think we’re being more productive by not taking breaks. But in reality, we’re just draining our brains. Without regular pauses, your brain gets tired, your focus drops, and eventually, your performance tanks.
Bottom line: Set the alarm. Take the break. Save your sanity.
(Just maybe don’t snooze it 12 times like your morning wake-up…)
