ST. PAUL, Minn. โ Some Minnesota lawmakers are looking to eliminate the proposed Northern Lights Express passenger train service between the Twin Cities and Duluth.
The federal government would cover 80% of the nearly $720 million needed to construct the rail line.
However, Republicans question whether the Trump Administration will support the plan. Theyโre pushing to redirect nearly $200 million designated for the Northern Lights project to the Minnesota Department of Transportation for highway maintenance.
Rail service between Minneapolis-St. Paul and Duluth was discontinued 40 years ago.
