Driver With Tree Lodged In Truck Charged With DUI
A Michigan teenager is facing DUI charges after being discovered passed out behind the wheel with a tree lodged in the front of his truck. The bizarre incident unfolded when authorities received a call from a concerned citizen at a gas station reporting a truck with a sizable tree wedged into its hood area and an unconscious driver inside.
Responding to the call, Ingham County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene to find the 18-year-old driver from Springport in a state of inebriation. After waking him up, they promptly arrested him for driving under the influence.
The events leading up to the discovery remain unclear. Prior to the gas station encounter, another motorist near I-96 and Williamston Road in Wheatfield Township had alerted law enforcement about the peculiar sight. Deputies took swift action, transporting the incapacitated driver to a hospital for evaluation.
Details surrounding the origin of the tree, the duration of the intoxicated driving, and potential injuries to others remain undisclosed by the sheriff’s office. However, it is confirmed that the young driver will be facing operating while intoxicated charges as a result of the incident.
