Man Fires ‘Celebratory’ Shots in Downtown Nashville After Divorce, Faces Multiple Charges
A 26-year-old man, Craig Jose Miller, is confronting over a dozen charges following a disturbing incident in downtown Nashville where he randomly discharged several rounds and engaged in altercations with officers.
The ordeal began when officers responded to a report of shots fired around 6 a.m. and discovered Miller and another individual situated at a street corner intersection.
According to a delivery driver who spoke with the officers, Miller was seen brandishing a firearm and firing off two rounds in different directions. Subsequently, law enforcement located the firearm in a nearby parking lot.
Miller was apprehended for reckless endangerment, and during questioning, he confessed to officers that he had recently finalized his divorce and fired eight shots as a supposed celebration of his newfound freedom.
Further investigation revealed a THC pen in Miller’s possession, accompanied by signs of severe impairment such as extremely slurred speech and an inability to look after himself.
Additionally, Miller’s companion informed officers about the presence of “bomb-making material” in a black backpack he carried. Upon inspection, authorities discovered stolen items from a vehicle break-in that occurred earlier that night in the backpack. Furthermore, they confirmed that the firearm utilized by Miller was stolen during the same vehicle break-in.
Miller has since been detained in Metro Jail, facing a litany of charges stemming from the incident.
