Wild Ride: Ford Mustang Pursuit Ends in Arrest After High-Speed Chase
Indiana man, Michael Anthony Stancato, aged 20, found himself in hot water after a high-speed pursuit involving his Ford Mustang. The chase, which reached speeds of up to 170 mph, came to an end when a Madison County Sheriff’s Deputy deployed a Taser to subdue him.
It all began when a police officer observed Stancato zooming at 84 mph in a 55 mph zone on State Road 67. Instead of pulling over, Stancato floored it, initiating a risky game of cat and mouse with law enforcement. As he barreled down state and county roads, Stancato’s reckless driving nearly caused multiple accidents, with his Mustang swerving dangerously and almost losing control several times.
Despite attempts to stop him, including the deployment of spike strips, Stancato remained undeterred. The pursuit finally drew to a close when Stancato’s vehicle collided with a curb, immobilizing the Mustang. However, his defiance didn’t end there. When officers arrived on the scene, they found Stancato in a scuffle with a Madison County deputy, who ultimately subdued him with a Taser.
Adding insult to injury, Stancato reportedly boasted to officers about hitting the astonishing speed of 170 mph during the chase, flaunting his reckless behavior.
As a result of his actions, Stancato now faces preliminary charges of criminal recklessness, resisting law enforcement, and criminal mischief. However, the final verdict rests with the Delaware County Prosecutor’s Office. Despite his arrest, Stancato was able to secure release from jail after posting bond, although his legal troubles are far from over.
