FARGO (KFGO) – The head of Red River Regional Dispatch in Fargo has asked the company that issues public safety alerts on its behalf what went wrong with the system.
Some people did not receive an alert Thursday when Fargo Police blocked off a section of downtown while investigating a suspicious device.
Dispatch center director Mary Phillippi said she’s also aware that others only received the cancellation notice on their smartphones, but not the initial message.
At about 1:35 a.m. Friday, another cancellation message went out, although Phllippi said it didn’t seem to be widespread. Again Friday afternoon, a third cancellation was pushed out to some residents. Phillippi said she doesn’t know what triggered the delayed messages.
The system used by Red River Regional Dispatch Center is Everbridge, described by the company as the world’s largest public alert platform.
The device, found at the intersection of Main Avenue and Broadway, was a pressure cooker.
