BEMIDJI, Minn. – A Bemidji woman convicted in the Christmas Day 2020 fatal shooting of her brother-in-law has been sentenced to 28.5 years in prison.
A jury found Janelle Johnson guilty of the second-degree murder of Jesse Farris following a two-week trial in March. The judge ordered Johnson to serve 19 years in prison and the remaining 114 months under supervised release.
Prosecutors said Johnson shot Farris three times in his home after an argument over the alleged domestic abuse of Johnson’s sister.
