FARGO (KFGO) – Cass County officials have announced that Sandbag Cass reached its goal of filling 200,000 sandbags.
According to Cass County officials, 495 volunteers helped to fill 59,100 sandbags Friday. Since operations began Monday, City and County employees, along with 2,000 volunteers filled a total of 200,100 sandbags using two machines specifically designed for the work.
“We are extremely proud and grateful of the effort and willingness of this community and the surrounding areas to help us through this flood fight effort,” Cass County Public Information Coordinator Catlin Solum said.
Sandbag deliveries have already been made to residents between West Fargo and Harwood, and around Kindred.
Cass County Engineer Jason Benson said Fargo will have 80,000 sandbags to cover sections of the city considered vulnerable to river-flooding.
